Westport Connecticut - No Animals at Beaches

Just a reminder that April 1, 2008 marks the beginning of the “no animals at beaches” season in Westport Connecticut.

While there are many arguments for and against this rule - it is what it is, and it is easy to forget after a long winter.

Keep in mind that this law includes all beach areas including parking lots (except the Soundview lot at Compo Beach) and grassy areas in addition to the actual beach itself.

I can understand the appeal of running your dog at the beach, but the few owners who don’t clean up after ruin it for everyone else. It’s a problem here even with leash laws, restricted areas, signs, and health notices. Just as well dogs can’t fly. :)

    Anna Maria,
This is a touchy subject with people firmly cemented on either side. And yes, the actions of some do ruin it for others.
