Total Lunar Eclipse in Westport Connecticut

See the total lunar eclipse tonight from the Rolnick Observatory in Westport Connecticut. Tonight’s eclipse (February 20, 2008) will be the only total lunar eclipse to happen this year.

The eclipse will begin at 8:43 pm and enter totality at 10:01 pm which should last until 10:51 pm. The Rolnick Observatory, located at 182 Bayberry Lane in Westport Connecticut has extended it’s public hours for the duration of the eclipse and invites the residents of Westport Connecticut to stop by during that time. Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted. In addition to the telescope in the dome, there will be smaller telescopes set up on the grounds. Grab your binoculars as well and head on over to the Rolnick Observatory.

Tonight’s total eclipse presents an excellent learning opportunity for kids in Westport Connecticut. Mother Nature timed this one well in that younger children can catch the beginning part of the eclipse without delaying bedtime too much. And it also happens to be winter break so no early school day tomorrow!

For more information about viewing tonight’s total lunar eclipse visit the Westport Astronomical Society’s website.
