Good news for all of you that want to make Westport Connecticut a little “greener” for our future. Beginning July 1, 2008 the Town of Westport will begin offering electronics recycling at the Town’s transfer station.

Increasingly, electronics waste makes up a large portion of this country’s garbage. This is incredibly bad for the environment and even worse for future generations. Thankfully Westport Connecticut is providing an alternative.

Instead of throwing away your unused and unwanted electronics items, take them down to the transfer station where you can recycle them for free for the time being. If volume and cost becomes too great then Westport may consider charging for this service.

Also, if you are not already aware, you can recycle fluorescent light bulbs at the transfer station. These energy saving bulbs do contain a small amount of mercury so it is best to dispose of them properly and not place them in regular trash.
