Earthplace, in Westport Connecticut will present A Critter Encounter on Saturday February 16, 2008 at 2:30 pm. Brought to you by the students in the Junior Curators program, these kids who range in age from 4th to 6th graders will wow the audience with knowledge about the little critters of Earthplace. Featured animals will include a snake, ferrets, guinea pigs, a bird, turtle, and rabbits.

Today, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm Earthplace in Westport Connecticut will hold a session aimed at high school aged kids and above.

Entitled - Minks, Beavers & Coyotes - A Wildlife Primer for Suburban Newcomers, the session will examine types of wildlife that one many run into while living in the southern part of Fairfield County, namely Westport Connecticut. This session presents a good opportunity to learn more about our local environment.

Earthplace members and Westport residents will enjoy free admission to this lecture and all others will pay a $10 registration fee. Reservations are required. For more details and info visit the Earthplace website.

Dinner for the Critters at Earthplace in Westport Connecticut

One of Westport CT’s gems is Earthplace, The Nature Discovery Center. Designed to educate the citizens of Westport Connecticut about all aspects of nature, Earthplace has 62 acres of trails and wildlife sanctuaries. In addition, Earthplace’s mission encompasses education about nature through a myriad of programs. Children in Westport Connecticut can become involved with Earthplace via their preschool or summer camp as well as the classes that are offered.

On the evening of February 8, 2008 from 6 pm to 8 pm, Earthplace will be holding a Dinner for the Critters event. Proceeds will benefit all the animals of Earthplace. The evening will begin with a pasta dinner followed by a presentation by children, specifically the junior curators, and the staff naturalists. Dessert will follow.

Dinner attendees will get to meet the various residents of Earthplace including birds, turtles, snakes, guinea pigs, ferrets, and rabbits.
